Khammam Fort is a fort in the city of KhammamTelangana, India constructed by Musunuri Nayaks. It served as an impregnable citadel during various regimes of different dynasties, including the Musunuri Nayaks, Qutb Shahi’s and Asaf Jahis. The fort was situated in a very vast area in the heart of the City of Khammam. It was notified as a protected monument by the Archaeology Department several decades ago. Despite decades of neglect, the historical edifice, which once flourished with regal opulence, presents its alluring charm due to its architectural splendor.

Lakaram _ tank bund

Lakaram lake is a lake in the city of Khammam. Located nearly 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) from a bus station, it is one of the main tourist attractions of the city. It has been developed recently under the auspices of Khammam MLA Sri Puvvada Ajay Kumar by the State government of Telangana under Mission Kakatiya.

Until 15 years ago it was surrounded by trees, but today has an adjoined park named Lakaram Lake View. The lake is popular for boating.

Khammam: After the formation of Telangana, the State government has developed parks in across the State and as part of it, the development of urban parks is going on at a faster pace in erstwhile Khammam district. The government has allotted more funds for the development of parks in the both districts of the Khammam and Bhadradri-Kothagudem. As a result, several parks have been developed and were brought into use allowing the public to relax in the lap of nature. Velugumatla Urban Forest Park and Lakaram Tank Bund in Khamamam and Urban Forest Park at Kothagudem have been attracting the people in large numbersThe Velugumatla Forest Park was inaugurated on August 2019 and here the plantation of several plant varieties was taken up in about 135 acres

Narasimha Swamy Gutta

This is the earlier name of present Khammam City. The name  Khammam has been derived from the name of a local hill which has been called Stambhadri, that is  an abode to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy and also believed to have been in existence since Tretayuga. The name of the the then town  Stambhadri, later  reportedly   became KhaMbhadri, Khambham meTTu ,and finally to present name Khammam. The meaning  of Stambhadri, Khambhadri, Khammam mettu, and Khammam is the one at the same i.e “Pillar”. The city is located near the Munneru river which is a  tributary  of the river Krishna. As per Hindu Texts Lord Narasimha appears from a Pillar. So it is believed that Lord Narasimha appears from this Stambhadri and killed the demon Hiranyakashyapu.  The ancient temple which has been exists on Stambadri Gutta is called  as   Stambhadri Gutta Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple and it is dedicated to Lord Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy.So Devotees as well as other People usually called this hill  as “Narasimha Swamy Gutta”.
